Double cleansing involves thoroughly washing your face with two different cleansers. The first oil-based cleanser is designed to remove oil-based impurities like makeup and sebum and second, a water-based cleanser is used to remove water soluble particles like dirt and pollution.

If you have oily skin and/or wear makeup daily, you might find double cleansing every evening works wonders for you. But if your skin is not particularly oil-prone or you only wear makeup occasionally, double cleansing every single night isn’t necessary, a gentle cleanser alone can do the job.
